We are delighted to announce after a productive meeting with Angus Council and Arbroath High School, that after 4 years of work, the Community Astro will open on Monday 30 January.
The near 1000 pupils of Arbroath High School will have access through the day via their PE curriculum and our 'Community Group' clubs will access in the evenings hosting a range of gender, ages and sports.
We will announce news on further public openings for hire after our 'soft launch' next week.
We are delighted to report also that the pitch passed all FIFA guidance tests!
Skilz have been working on updating 'The Arbroath Community Astro' for 4 years now in negotiations with Angus Council.
We wanted to deliver a safe, modern facility for the people of Arbroath and surrounding areas.
It made no sense to us that Arbroath, the largest town in Angus did not have a facility to support local sports team, community groups and schools.
Skilz as a charity began an incredible 4 year journey to take over the site, raise funds to modernise it, then ensure it met the needs of our community.
We are very close to opening this amazing facility to support all the local community teams and groups, having secured a 99 year lease to oversee the facility for the community.
We are proud to be working with Angus Council, Arbroath High School, Angus Alive, Arbroath Lads Club, Arbroath Community Sports Club, Arbroath FC Community Trust, Arbroath Atheltics Club, Arbroath FP's FC, Arbroath Harp and Arbroath Victoria JFC.
The facility will also be available to community groups, primary schools, college and other sports clubs.

We were delighted to welcome some of our local councillors to the new facility for a look around ahead of opening.
We appreciate those Councillors that have supported us from the start. Our CEO, Mark Anderson can be seen above showing them all around.
It was great to see political differences put aside for the good of the community they serve.
We welcomed our local MSP Graeme Dey and MP Dave Doogan for a visit to the Arbroath Community Astro. Both have been very supportive of Skilz during this process and it was great to have them on site to show them around with the team.
